College for child and adolescents psychotherapies
Reflecting UKCP’s strategic objectives, The College for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapies (C-CAP) has been established to serve the emotional, social and mental health of children and young people in the UK, which have been shown by a series of reports and studies over the last decade, including comparative EEC and UN reports, to be a cause for serious concern. In recognition of the importance of the specialist skills and knowledge required when meeting the needs of children and young people. The college finds a home for all the psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors who share this ability in this specialist area of work, whatever their theoretical orientation.
The College also plays a key role in mitigating the risks to UKCP, its members and most of all to children and young people, of working in a rapidly developing field where safeguarding is highly sensitive, is often ambiguous and attracts the close and often unsympathetic attention of a range of authorities, regulators and media.
The heart of our work is to uphold the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children and young people. An important part of this is achieved by focusing on standards of excellence in clinical practice within the field.
The College of Child and Adolescent Therapies is unique in the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy in that it is designed to promote a cross-modality membership to meet the range and diversity of emotional and mental health problems affecting today’s children and young people.
As an Organisation or an individual do you work with children and young people?
We offer membership to those who are qualified in child psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling with children and young people.
We offer membership to current and new UKCP organisations who have developed or wish to develop specialist training in this field. We also support organisations in obtaining such specialist skills.
You can register through the College for Child and Adolescent Therapies for the Child Proficiency Marker either exclusively or in addition to membership of another college by clicking on C-CAP Registration
